Galimkair M. Mutanov
Galimkair M. Mutanov is a Rector (President) at al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He has been managing universities for the past twenty five years. In 1995 he was appointed as the Rector of North Kazakhstan State Technical University. Within 7 years of his management North Kazakhstan State Technical University became one of the leading higher educational institutions in Kazakhstan. In 2002 Galimkair Mutanov was appointed as the First Vice-President of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On this position he made an immense contribution to modernization of education and science, integration of Kazakhstan to the international academic and scientific space. In 2003 Dr. Mutanov was appointed as a rector of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University. In a short period of time the higher educational institution had made innovative constructive changes that had a positive influence on the innovative development of the region as for the first time the model of innovative HEI “Technopark-University” was created. Since 2010 Dr. Mutanov has been a Rector of al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Under his management the university became Top one in Central Asia and Top 10 in emerging countries. He is a President of UNAI Global Hub on Sustainability at al-Farabi KazNU and President of Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development at al-Farabi KazNU.
Galimkair Mutanov is the academician of more than 10 international academies. He is author of more than 500 scientific publications, including more than 20 monographs, manuals, textbooks in the field of social and economic, technical processes and systems, methodological developments published: owner of more than 60 patents and inventions. In 2014 the world renowned “Springer” publishing house recognized the merits of the author, published his book “Mathematical Methods and Models in Economic Planning, Management and Budgeting”.
Galimkair Mutanov is a member of World Academy of Arts and Sciences, Vice-President and academician of National Academy of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Vice-President of Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists; President of National Academy of Science of High School of Kazakhstan; President of Central Asian Department and Member of the Monitoring Committee of the International Society of Engineering Education IGIP; Member of International Association of University Presidents; Member of Econometric Society, Royal Economic Society.
Merits of Professor Mutanov in the field of education and science are marked by High National State Awards as: the III Degree “Barys” Order and “Parasat” Order of the Republic of Kazakhstan, title of Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Kazakhstan, nominal Golden Medal of the International Academy of Higher Education “For outstanding achievements in the field of science and education”.
By International State Awards as: title of Chevalier of the Order of the Academic Palm (France), the State Order of the Republic of Poland “Cavalry Cross”, Golden Medal of the President of Republic of Korea, Golden Medal “Award of ISESCO (Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture) in science and technology in mathematics”, Golden Medal of M.Curie, and many others.
