RECTOR OF KAZNU MET WITH THE HEAD OF THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION
ALMATY. 20 April. Press center – the meeting of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuimebayev with the head of the UNICEF organization in Kazakhstan Arthur van Diesen took place at the al-Farabi KazNU.
During the meeting, the parties discussed new ways to strengthen cooperation and considered a number of issues. In his welcoming speech, the rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that the university has been successfully and fruitfully cooperating with the United Nations Organization and its subsidiaries for many years, implementing large-scale joint projects.
“Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is one of the leading universities in the world. KazNU attaches special importance to the development of education and science. Since 2014, the university has been the Global Hub of the UN Sustainable Development Program “Academic Impact”. In addition, the university contributes to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at many international academic platforms, ”said Zhanseit Tuimebayev.
The Rector of KazNU also dwelled on the work done in the framework of cooperation between the educational institution and the UNICEF organization. “Together with your organization, the university has hosted many international meetings, several projects have been successfully implemented. We are ready to continue to interact and continue joint work in this direction, ”said the rector of KazNU.
In turn, Arthur van Diesen spoke about the activities and tasks of UNICEF. “One of the important tasks for UNICEF is to create a favorable environment for children and educational opportunities in Kazakhstan and the world. In this regard, the educational project “UniSat”, implemented by us together with the scientific and technological park of your university, has a special meaning and significance. The goal of the project, launched in 2020, is to develop the knowledge and competencies of girls in the development of nanosatellites. The project will enhance skills such as teamwork, public speaking, time management and creativity, ”said Arthur van Diesen.
In his speech, the representative of the World Organization highly appreciated the cooperation with KazNU. Currently, at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, with the support of UNICEF, is implementing an international project “Improving state programs for pre- and post-graduate training and retraining of social workers and specialists performing social work functions.”
These projects have proven the productivity of cooperation, which has great potential for further deepening. This project is in tune with the UNICEF mission to strengthen children’s rights and ensure equal access to quality social services – health and education.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that as a global hub for the UN, the university will continue to work in this direction. “As a higher educational institution, we will continue to work on existing projects and express our readiness to support all the initiatives of UNICEF and Kazakhstan for the high-quality implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The current partnership between KazNU named after al-Farabi and UNICEF once again proves the success and the need for such relationships ”, – noted the rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev.
